Leadership opportunity within the Westpac Pacific businessLead the end-to-end Westpac Bank business in PNGRole will be based in Port Moresby, PNGHow will I Help?

The Chief Executive Officer, PNG is responsible for leading Westpac PNG's end-to-end banking operation including full business management and delivery of the business plan and achievement of business goals. Westpac PNG offers a full range of retail banking services as well as financial services geared towards large corporations and institutional clients.

Westpac's role in the Pacific is more than simply providing banking and financial services. It's about being part of the stability and security of a sound financial system, playing an integral role in the local economy and contributing to the social and environmental wellbeing of local communities.

Key elements of the role include the management of external relationships with key customers, the Government (including at prime ministerial level), regulators, and business and community leaders. Reporting to the MD Pacific Banking, this role is fundamental to the success of the Westpac Pacific agenda – the role is both strategic and hands-on.

Major Accountabilities:

Undertake strategic business planning that sets clear strategic goals to grow the businessActively manage Westpac PNG's balance sheet and maintain a robust liquidity positionLead the distribution of Westpac PNG's products and servicesStrengthen relationships with key stakeholders including government, regulators, and business leadersRepresent Westpac PNG in the media and at key industry eventsOversee risk management ensuring all risks (Credit, Operational & Business Risk) are adequately managed, monitored, and mitigatedEnsure adherence to local regulations and compliance standardsEnd-to-end customer experienceSustainability of Westpac in the local marketDeliver on financial performance including revenue growth and cost management, while aligning with Group's financial targetsFoster a high-performance culture and drive employee engagementChampion corporate social responsibility initiatives such as Financial Education creating a positive social impact and supporting local communitiesThis is an opportunity to lead a key market within Westpac's Pacific operations. Ideally, you are a senior leader with a demonstrated track record in commercial banking, with an ability to see the big picture and implement strategy. Your relationship skills will be on the go nurturing existing relationships and building new ones with customers and local organisations.

You need to be a leader and a self-starter because PNG is a unique market while still part of our Pacific Business. Strong risk, financial, and commercial acumen are essential. If you've had exposure to the Treasury function, especially as it relates to liquidity and balance sheet management and international operations, this would be an advantage.
