Central Australian Aboriginal Alcohol Programmes Unit – Alice Springs NTThe Central Australian Aboriginal Alcohol Programmes Unit (CAAAPU) was established in 1991. CAAAPU is an Aboriginal Corporation which delivers culturally appropriate alcohol and other substance abuse rehabilitation, treatment programs and services to assist the people of Central Australia. CAAAPU endeavors to provide a safe and effective healing place that equips individuals and families with the tools to lead a healthy, active and productive life by increasing the recognition of the unique spiritual and cultural strengths of Aboriginal people to assist in healing choices and by providing leadership in the Aboriginal community in the areas of alcohol and other drug dependency. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants will be given priority consideration and preference in selection for this vacancy if they meet all essential criteria and are suitable at the position level. About the Opportunity CAAAPU invites applications for Chief Executive Officer to join our leadership team in Alice Springs. Key functions: The Chief Executive Officer is directly responsible for the overall management, operations, programs, planning and development of the CAAAPU organisation. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for organisational supervision and coordinating all CAAAPU staff. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible and reports directly to the Board of CAAAPU. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the implementation and coordination of the CAAAPU Strategic Plan set by the Board. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of the CAAAPU Operational Plan. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing advice to the Board in relation to policies, programs, projects and strategies. Closing Date: Monday 18 November 2024 About You Demonstrated high level of leadership and managerial experience and skills. Proven analytical abilities with experience in implementing goals for the organisation and in analysing organisational outcomes. Demonstrated skills in risk management including understanding of clinical governance and risk mitigation systems. A real understanding of Aboriginal issues, people and culture, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with the Aboriginal people. A working knowledge and understanding of the alcohol and substance abuse sector. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and control the financial resources of an organisation. Proven ability to effectively manage and develop the human resources function of an organisation. High level of interpersonal and people communication skills, including a high level of written and oral communications skills. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of government grant funding guidelines, submissions, acquittals, funding contracts and budget management, preferably in an Aboriginal affairs administration context. Proven ability to communicate across a range of relevant government and non-government sectors and to represent an organisation in negotiations as required. Satisfactory police check and screening. Minimum of 3 years' recent program management experience. A working knowledge of equal employment opportunity principles and practices. An awareness of the alcohol treatment and rehabilitation philosophy/practices. Graduate Qualification in Alcohol and other Drugs. A working knowledge of health and occupational safety requirements in the workplace. Flexibility, resilience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity are essential qualities for success in this role.
