Exciting forward-facing growth agenda for the region Lead, inspire and develop your team! Located in Central Western Queensland, covering 53,935 square kilometres and with a population of 1200, Winton has an iconic and unique heritage. Winton's rich history includes being home to the song Waltzing Matilda and the birthplace of Qantas, however more recently they are renowned for the discovery of dinosaur fossils including a dinosaur stampede with over 3,300 footprints.
Winton has exciting key development initiatives underway including the Winton 150 Year Celebration in 2025, construction of a Youth Centre and the ongoing sealing of the Outback Way, which are among many other projects that will help ensure a long-term sustainable and bright future for the region, its communities and residents.
As CEO and the most senior executive within Council, you will be the main driver of all major strategic and operational initiatives with a specific focus on optimising the region's current economic growth momentum, developing and implementing key policy frameworks, ensuring strong financial management and governance and instilling a team culture based on customer-focus and a genuine commitment to service delivery excellence.
You will be an experienced CEO or possess impressive senior executive leadership experience within Local Government, with a thorough understanding of the LG act and all associated statutory and legislative frameworks. You have exceptional financial management and planning skills and a keen eye for commercial opportunities, while your ability to astutely manage political sensitivities means you can quickly build collaborative working partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders and balance the priorities of multiple agendas. As a leader, you thrive on the challenge of leading teams across complex, multi-faceted projects that deliver positive, customer-centric outcomes.
