A highly respected organisation Australia's Academic and Research Network was established in 1989. It is a national resource, a national research and education network, run by AARNet Pty Ltd, (AARNet) a not-for-profit company with a clear charitable purpose in research and education, owned by 38 Australian universities and CSIRO. AARNet is widely regarded as the founder of the Internet in Australia and is renowned as the architect, builder, and operator of world-class network infrastructure for research and education. A crucial leadership role The CEO leads and drives the strategic direction and vision of AARNet. The CEO is responsible for leading the Senior Management Team and ensuring high-quality and innovative product/service development and delivery that meets all quality, operational, and financial targets. The CEO also leads and directs business development, community engagement and manages the day-to-day operations of the organization to achieve optimum outcomes. Critically important to the role of CEO at AARNet is the ability to forge new relationships domestically and internationally and maintain and develop relationships with shareholders and at senior levels in state and federal governments. Essential criteria You will have proven experience leading an organisation providing critical telecommunications or technology infrastructure services, at scale and within mission critical environments. Strong leadership and commercial skills are essential, with a demonstrated ability to inspire a shared vision, manage change, and foster collaboration in a critical delivery environment. You will be strategic, analytical, and operationally disciplined, well equipped to balance diverse stakeholder interests with the demands of operational and delivery excellence. A strong focus on achieving positive outcomes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to negotiate effectively are critical. You will be able to advance and build networks that improve outcomes for the education and research sectors in Australia. High levels of integrity and accountability are key, along with a commitment to both personal and organisational growth, strongly aligned to the purpose and mission of AARNet and its charitable support for national education and research communities.
