Our client, The Alastair Swayn Foundation (the Foundation), is seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead this exceptional not-for-profit organisation.
The Organisations: The Foundation is a registered charity advancing Australian design and architectural culture. Governed by a Board of Directors, the Foundation oversees strategic direction, financial administration, and funding support. Revenue is generated from property assets owned by Alastair Swayn, a for-profit trustee company.
The Foundation supports charitable projects, including:
The Swayn Gallery of Australian Design (The Swayn) for collecting and displaying Australian design records.
Research into Australian architecture, design, and future trends.
Grants for research and education in architecture, design, and technology.
Visits by overseas scholars and related activities.
The Swayn, a registered charity, promotes Australian design, stimulates research, builds public awareness, and fosters international connections.
Vision and Mission: The Foundation's vision is to advance Australian architecture and design through research, education, and partnerships, honoring Alastair Swayn's legacy.
Role: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
The CEO leads and represents the Foundation, The Swayn, and Alastair Swayn, ensuring alignment with Board strategies. Key responsibilities include:
Providing advice and guidance to the Boards.
Overseeing operations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Driving strategic direction and risk management.
Managing staff, contractors, and consultants.
Overseeing finances, property assets, and investments.
Developing business plans, budgets, and risk management strategies.
Representing the organisations and building stakeholder relationships.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience in the not-for-profit sector, governance, compliance, and financial monitoring.
Strategic planning and fundraising experience.
Proven leadership and high-level communication skills.
Experience working with Boards and small teams.
Desirable: Legal or design background.
