About the role The position of Chief Engineer is an integral part of the SeaLink South Australia's Marine Operations crew. The primary function of this role is the safe and efficient operation of Company vessel engines and mechanical systems. This will include working as part of a team, whilst maintaining excellence in safety and reliability at all times.
The Chief Engineer is expected to meet and exceed key performance indicators, whilst displaying a high level of work ethics. This position requires interpersonal and organisational skills, and effective written and verbal communication abilities are essential. The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Engineers work practices, standards and performance, and to assist with deck loading operations. A sound knowledge of the vessels is essential to all aspects of this role.
The Chief Engineer works 7 days on, 7 days off and at times outside of these hours during periods of annual slipping and maintenance requirements. This role reports to the Master of the vessel and will be working in close conjunction with the Marine Operations Manager and the Marine Maintenance Manager. It is essential you hold a Marine Engineer Class 3 certification. Only applicants with this certification will be considered.
