Job Description
About the role...The Chief Engineer at Novotel Surfers Paradise will be responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and asset protection across the property.
This role will lead the maintenance of the building, grounds, and physical plant while managing the department's budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance programs, and energy conservation initiatives.
The Chief Engineer will ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and lead the emergency response team for any facility-related issues, ensuring exceptional service and an exceptional guest experience.Key Responsibilities include:Oversee all aspects of the physical plant, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems, and life safety equipment, ensuring optimal performance and luxury-level service.Lead and ensure the effective operation of all engineering systems, guaranteeing that all equipment operates at peak efficiency, safety, and effectiveness.Manage the engineering department's budget, including capital expenditures, operational costs, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation projects.Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for the property.Record meter readings and liaise with the General Manager regarding options to improve energy management and conservation in keeping with Gaia 2.0 Commitments.Be responsible for testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc., on a routine basis as required by local Council and Fire Service.Be available to carry out emergency maintenance work outside of normal working hours, as required for full power failure, evacuation fire system reset, and/or failure of mechanical systems.Maintain records of repair work and daily checks as required by local Council, Government, and Manufacturer specifications.Liaise closely with Front Desk and Housekeeping regarding out-of-service rooms to expedite a quick turnaround and return to inventory.Ensure that external areas of the hotel are maintained in line with Company brand standards.Prepare monthly Maintenance reports, commenting on key performance indicators and actions taken to keep on target.Adhere to Emergency Communication procedures ensuring that inquiries from the media are only responded to by the nominated spokesperson.Strive to implement the Accor Vision and demonstrate active use of Accor Values.Monitor, identify, and where possible eliminate workplace hazards and risks in line with policies established under the guidelines within InterREACT.As a member of the Emergency Planning Committee (EPC), attend scheduled meetings and actively participate in activities to support the Accor / NSP Risk Management program.QualificationsAbout you...Previous experience in a similar role and environment.Self-motivation with the ability to work autonomously.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Sound understanding of WHS and Manual Handling.A desire to develop among a driven & professional team.Additional InformationSo, when will you be joining us?
