The role of Chief Engineer is critical to supporting the operational departments of our hotel and contributes to the high level of service we deliver to our guests.
As the Chief Engineer, you will be the cornerstone of our engineering department, responsible for overseeing all engineering operations and initiatives.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead a team, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure the successful delivery of complex projects.
Your leadership will be pivotal in shaping the future of our engineering practices and achieving our strategic goals.
We are looking for someone who can:
Plan and carry out preventative maintenance throughout the Hotel to ensure standards are maintained for a positive guest experience.
Maintain contractor records, including SWMS and Public Liability insurance, and ensure work permits are obtained before commencement, especially when working at heights or within confined spaces.
Ensure all contractors are inducted to site in accordance with the Hotel policies.
Quarterly audit reporting and monthly maintenance reporting.
Researching, recommending, and liaising with the General Manager regarding procedures to improve the overall efficiency of the department.
Prepare and submit capex proposals and manage capex projects.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements to ensure the company remains at the forefront of technology.
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience as a Chief Engineer/Facilities Manager or similar role.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience managing a maintenance function within a large multi-story building.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field), or trade qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering will be viewed as advantageous.
Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations.
An ability to find the "yes" in every situation.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
The ability to carry out emergency maintenance works outside of normal working hours.
