The role: We have a great opportunity for a Chief Chemist who is excited by the variety this role offers. As a Chief Chemist in the Geo-Analytical Laboratory, you will play a crucial role in managing the analytical department, researching and developing techniques and performing analytical work as directed. You will also be responsible for maintaining profitability within the department.
What's needed? Ideally you will have previous experience and the following skillsets:
Comply with HSE guidelines and programsAdhere to safety guidelines and initiate corrective actions when required.Ability to maintain staffing levels, including managing leavePrioritise production to ensure timeframes are achieved.Perform equipment maintenance when required to minimise downtimeMaintain stock levels for efficient operation of the departmentComply with quality programs and guidelines and escalate if there are any concerns in meeting these guidelinesActively participate in meetings and auditsConduct quality control checks, troubleshoot issues, and calibrate instruments as required.Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure efficient laboratory operations.Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and new analytical techniques.What will you bring to the role? A formal qualification in Chemistry, such as a Bachelor of Science is necessaryExperience in a minerals laboratory is preferredExperience leading a team is requiredA strong safety mindset and experience with HSE training, toolbox talks and escalating safety concernsCustomer focus to ensure samples are run on time and escalate concerns appropriatelyFamiliarity with geoanalytical processing principles and techniquesComputer literacy skills are requiredStrong Communication and Leadership SkillsWhat is the roster: Monday to Friday roster – day shiftThe benefits: We offer a competitive salary and an opportunity to advance your career in a leading global organisation, as well as:
