About the role Elders' Strategy, Sustainability and Innovation team is entering an exciting period of transformation and is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Agronomist to join our senior leadership team on a permanent, full-time basis, with flexibility on location for the right candidate.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a 'Centre of Excellence' for agronomy and advisory services for Elders, supporting a network of 250 agronomists and advisors. As the Chief Agronomist, you will collaborate closely with key leaders across the Elders' network to define the vision and strategy for our agronomy services and drive innovation in the agronomy space with a strong focus on sustainable farming practices. You will lead the development and delivery of agronomic solutions, focusing on enhancing technical capabilities within the team, including precision agriculture and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities Develop and execute the overarching agronomy vision and strategy in collaboration with the EGM Strategy, Sustainability & Innovation.Design and implement a national training and development program for agronomists across the Elders network.Provide national leadership and technical guidance to the Elders network, promoting best practices and sustainability goals.Expand and grow the fee-for-service agronomy offerings.Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to develop and lead cutting-edge research trials and demonstration initiatives.About you To succeed at Elders, you require:
Extensive senior leadership experience within the agriculture industry, with proven ability to drive change and innovation in agronomy.Relevant tertiary qualifications in Agribusiness, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or a related field.In-depth technical knowledge across agronomy, farm input markets, sustainability, and research & extension practices.A passion for emerging trends in sustainability and innovation, with an established network across farm input industry (nationally and globally).A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels within the Elders Group, coupled with a growth mindset.About Elders As a trusted Australian agribusiness, we have played an important role in the agricultural sector for 185 years.
