NRG Gladstone Operating Services is offering a rare opportunity to join its high performing team in the role of Chemical Process Engineer. This position is based in Gladstone on a permanent full-time basis. This role provides technical leadership and expertise in the operation of various chemical processes, hydrogen production, water treatment and demineralisation plants, boiler and steam monitoring systems, including the provision of laboratory services, to ensure optimal availability and reliability of the Gladstone Power Station.The Gladstone Power Station remains Queensland's largest single power station with 1680MW of flexible generating capacity, and supplies power to the Queensland electricity network and Boyne Island Aluminium Smelter through a long-term power supply agreement. Relocation assistance will be available to the successful applicant.9 Day fortnight, Monday to FridayLifestyle Package membership to sport and recreation facilitiesPerformance incentiveMedical Insurance AssistanceSalary Sacrificing11.5% SuperannuationReporting to the Superintendent Science and Environment, you will be:The technical lead for station water & steam chemistry maintenance and monitoring; and the operation of chemical manufacturing plants (including hypochlorite, hydrogen, water demineralisation) and water dosing (including ammonia, ferrous sulphate and boiler water conditioners).Supported by dedicated and experienced Chemical Process & Laboratory technicians who are responsible for day-to-day operations, and site Maintenance and Engineering teams.Reviewing the broader plant performance and assisting with setting and optimizing of plant parameters across the Chemical areas on a daily basis.Identifying and communicating potential problems, and associated solutions, to process systems which will impact output and quality, and lead work to resolve them.Leading and completing projects and work that is technically or operationally of high complexity.Contributing to the development and improvement of systems/reports utilised by Project engineering.Providing support to the Production and Maintenance planning and scheduling functions through a thorough understanding of the technical operating limits of multiple areas of the plant.Contributing to the expansion of production capability and improved technical operations through process problem-solving and plant trials.Highlighting emerging issues across relevant areas of the plant, identifying practical solutions, and providing support to resolve these issues.Contributing to work group planning by providing technical expertise, recommending improvements to systems, processes and procedures, and maintaining a current knowledge of technological developments relevant to the power station needs.Influencing and implementing continuous improvement to technology, systems, and processes through effective change management practices to improve the operational performance of the business.Writing documents/reports and making presentations on actions/recommendations in a clear and succinct language.What you will bringWe are seeking candidates who are:Focused on seeking opportunities for future career development and leadership pathways across the business.Seeking exposure to a diverse and dynamic operating environment across a wide range of process technologies.To succeed in this role, you will have:Bachelor of Chemical Engineering or Science (Chemistry, Process Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry), or equivalent. Suitable for membership of the RACI.The flexibility to contribute and adapt to changing objectives.Well-developed interpersonal skills capable of working within a multi-disciplinary team of technical professionals.Strong understanding and commitment to Health, Safety and Environment principles and safe work practices.Experience in coal fired power station principles in a role associated with process management and optimization.Demonstrated experience in operational and project management environments in power station chemistry processes and chemical testing practices.Strong understanding of boiler and steam water quality standards and best practice controls and dosing treatments.Prior knowledge of operational principles and demonstrated experience of the chemical plants which include demineraliser and polisher plants, ammonia and hydrazine batching and dosing plants, electro-chlorination plant, ferrous sulphate dosing and hydrogen production plant.Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, such as Word, Excel etc.It will also be beneficial if you have:Advanced knowledge of Foxboro and PI software systems.Knowledge of E - Pas isolation and safe access system software.Sound knowledge of environmental processes and legislation as it relates to industrial facilities.Pre-Employment Requirements:Successful completion of a drug and alcohol test and pre-employment medical.If you are interested in this position, please ensure you meet the selection criteria and essential qualifications.To apply for this position, go to our vacancies page on our website and submit a cover letter explaining how you successfully meet the requirements of the role and attach a current resume - https://www.nrggos.com.au/careersThis position will close at 3pm on 2nd December 2024.
