CHEF (Full Time) – Indian Cuisine (Tandoor Section) Gaylord Indian Restaurant located in Docklands serves different regional food from India in eye-catching plating while maintaining the authentic taste.
The restaurant is very well known.
We are seeking a chef with experience in Tandoori cuisine and curries.
You will be working in a team with other chefs and kitchen hands.
We are looking for an energetic, hardworking, creative chef with love of cooking to join our team who takes pride for his/her kitchen work.
You are a qualified Indian Cuisine tandoori chef with a minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience.
More importantly, you are willing to learn the style of serving and help the head chef develop new recipes with great garnishing.
On offer is a full-time position (38 hours), with a great salary and superannuation.
You will work with people from the industry who have worked in hospitality and have hands-on experience.

Salary range: $ 73,500 to 80,000 per annum Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: · Preparation of all Tandoor cuisines · Preparation and presentation of dishes, including all items on the menu, to consistently high standards · Planning menus, considering food costs, special events, and occasion needs.
· Monitoring food items to ensure the food quality and freshness · Ensure consistent and smooth running of food production · Discussing food preparation issues with the head Chef, Managers and kitchen staff · Cuts, trims and bones meats and poultry for cooking · Preparation and cooking of marination and seasoning for menu item · Customising food items to meet special dietary requirements · Responsible for supervising · Wastage control · Examination of unprepared and prepared dishes to ensure quality and consistency of foodstuffs · Stock control and purchasing (receipt and storage) · Estimation of food costs and requirements · Menu preparation and pricing of foods as required in consultation with the head chef · Opening and closing of the kitchen · Kitchen hygiene and health and safety measures · Ability to manage temperature checks, cleaning charts and food freshness · Implementing Food Safety Management System (as required) · May assist in training other kitchen staff as and when required.
Preferable Skills: · Certificate III / IV in Commercial cookery or Hospitality(desirable).
· Industry recognized Food Handling Certificate · Knowledge of Indian spices, curries and Tandoor · Effective written and verbal communication skills · Ability to forward plan to ensure supplies meet demand · Reliability, self-motivation and a strong work ethic · Good knowledge of portion control · Experience in plating & serving dishes · A strong work ethic · High standard of personal presentation and hygiene · Experience with cooking Indian cuisine
