Blu Ginger Indian Restaurant seeks a Full-time Chef
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our team in Canberra. As a Chef at Blu Ginger, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes to the highest standards, while also providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook dishes to the menu and recipes provided
• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Maintain excellent food presentation skills
• Cater to cultural and dietary needs of customers
• Communicate effectively with floor and kitchen staff
• Supervise and guide kitchen staff in their activities
• Liaise with managers and staff regarding food preparation issues
• Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards in the kitchen
• Monitor performance and train junior kitchen staff
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
• Manage inventory and order food supplies
• Ensure customer suggestions and enquiries are dealt with in accordance with company policies
• Determine preparation and service of food to ensure attractive presentation
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking equipment
• Plan and cost menus
• Minimise food wastage and manage food cost
• Roster kitchen staff and manage labour cost
• Store food in temperature-controlled facilities
• Follow sustainable work practices
• Work effectively in a busy environment and under pressure
Requirements:
• 3 years' full-time work experience as a Chef
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Higher


Nominal Salary: To be agreed
