Now, we're searching for a skilled and passionate Chapter Lead in Data Engineering to lead and inspire a talented team, making meaningful impacts across our organisation.About the RoleAs the Chapter Lead – Data Engineering, you'll lead a team of four direct reports, overseeing the design and delivery of data engineering solutions that support our Data & Analytics (D&A) products. This leadership role is pivotal to the success of Uniting's data strategy, helping unlock the value of data for informed decision-making across the organisation. You'll work closely with the Data Platform Manager, championing best practices in data engineering and ensuring that our solutions are scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective. By fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams, you'll help build cutting-edge reporting and analytics initiatives while improving organisational efficiency and data governance.What You'll DoLead data engineering efforts, ensuring adherence to best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.Manage and develop a high-performing data engineering team that delivers business value to Uniting.Collaborate with the Data Platform Manager on designing data models and solutions and reviewing code to ensure robust, scalable products.Design and develop solutions using Snowflake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL, JavaScript, and Python to solve business data use cases.Optimise system performance and support squads in delivering data solutions aligned with Uniting's strategic priorities.Drive the execution of D&A initiatives, including planning and stakeholder engagement, while contributing to the development of data strategies.Champion data governance, data quality, and security by collaborating with business stakeholders on policy development and adherence.Lead the chapter in exploring innovative tools and methods to elevate Uniting's decision-making capability through data.Stay updated on industry trends to ensure Uniting remains at the forefront of data-driven innovation.Qualifications and SkillsBachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field (master's degree preferred).8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a deep understanding of data engineering principles.Proficiency in SQL, JavaScript, and Python, with strong programming and data profiling skills.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to manage delivery teams using agile methodologies and navigate complex organisational structures.Proven track record in data governance, data quality, and business acumen in large organisations.Strong project management skills, with experience optimising work portfolios and delivering reports to stakeholders.Even Better If You HaveExperience in Management Consulting.Expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning, and data engineering.For a more detailed description of the role, please view the PD here: PD - Data Analytics - Chapter Lead Data EngineeringWhy Join Us?At Uniting, we offer flexible work arrangements, with our Sydney CBD office as your base and one day per week at our Parramatta office (Thursday).
