Currently we are looking for an experienced Chaplain to provide responsive individualised spiritual care to Residents, acknowledging their diverse cultural and religious backgrounds and needs and ensuring that an inclusive and non-judgemental approach is taken. Reporting to the Senior Chaplain, this position offers you the opportunity to coordinate and participate in the pastoral care program of Warrina Homes working closely with Residents and families, volunteers, staff and local churches to ensure that the spiritual and pastoral care needs of residents are met.
Key responsibilities of this role: To provide pastoral care and spiritual support to Residents, predominantly in our Residential Aged Care Facilities. To develop and enhance opportunities for Residents to participate in the Christian life of the organisation. To provide end of life support and care to the Resident and their family as invited. To oversee and participate in the conduct of chapel services and to coordinate other activities as appropriate. To arrange and support suitable training sessions for Warrina Homes' pastoral care volunteers and to coordinate the weekly chapel service rosters. To plan and coordinate the Resident visitation program. To write a devotional item for Warrina Homes newsletters when required. To maintain contact with local Christian churches appropriate to their pastoral support of Warrina residents and the recruitment of pastoral care volunteers. Contribute, as part of the team, to ensure the Aged Care Quality Standards in relation to spiritual care, are met within the Home. We are looking for someone with: Tertiary qualifications in Theology, Counselling, Social Work or other relevant area. Passionate about working with the elderly, their families and other members of the health care team. Experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team working with volunteers and the elderly. Comfortable in the delivery of inclusive spiritual care to Residents in a non-judgmental way. Ability to demonstrate respectful and sensitive interactions that maintain the Residents choice, rights and dignity. A caring, empathetic manner and a highly skilled listener. The ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people. Able to work autonomously and to seek assistance and supervision when needed.
