Your Opportunity Join our team as a Chaplain / Community Chaplain and play a crucial role in supporting the pastoral health and wellbeing of both staff and clients at Mission Australia.
In this role, you will provide compassionate guidance on personal, spiritual, and religious matters, helping individuals navigate challenges while ensuring our Christian Founding Purpose and values are lived out across the organisation.
You will be instrumental in delivering pastoral care, across the Darwin and Katherine regions, to staff, fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture, while also engaging local Christian churches to support the spiritual well-being of tenants and clients in Mission Australia Housing and supported accommodation programs.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide pastoral care and support to employees through regular face to face contact and other communication tools (MS Teams, phone etc) Provide pastoral care, information and support to community members empowering them to explore future goals, grow and confront personal challenges (and negative patterns of behaviour when necessary Assist staff in their understanding and 'living out' the organisations values including promoting values-based decision making at all levels Collaborate with Program Managers to facilitate spiritual and cultural programs for staff including reflections and team activities that are aligned to the operation of the site Support the effective functioning of the chaplaincy service by maintaining regular communication with key stakeholders and peers to inform activities Assist access to external support services and community resources as required (e.g.
health and wellbeing services, employment services, housing, sports clubs, arts groups) Support the effective functioning of the chaplaincy service by maintaining regular communication with key stakeholders and peers to inform activities Comply with core responsibilities set out in the MA Child & Youth Safe policies, procedures and supporting documents to practice as required by the role Proactively raise concerns about any issues that affect the safety and wellbeing of children and young people engaging with MA services Requirements for Success Relevant theological qualifications, Clinical Pastoral Education, a Certificate IV in Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy or equivalent qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution Previous experience and ability to deliver culturally appropriate pastoral care and to spread the knowledge of God's love with sensitivity Demonstrated ability to work cross denominationally while maintaining the Bible as the inspired word of God Strong listening and engagement skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders Skills in developing community links that strengthen Mission Australia's relationship with external organisations and local churches Demonstrated professional approach to the role including maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality Ongoing commitment to personal spiritual growth in the Christian faith and active membership and participation in a local church community Willingness and ability to travel frequently to locations in geographical area of responsibility Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
