About the boardThe Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board (the Board) is a public independent board that plays a critical role in maintaining the safety of the Voluntary Assisted Dying program and importantly provides advice to the Minister for Health and/or the Secretary, Department of Health in relation to the operation of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017 (the Act).
About the roleAs a Chairperson, you will demonstrate your expertise in areas such as governance, leadership, clinical guidance, quality and safety, research, and community engagement.
The Board Chair leads the Board in delivering its functions under the Act. The Chair is responsible for providing leadership and ensuring the Board operates effectively, meets its obligations, and serves the public interest. The Chair oversees Board meetings, ensures compliance with statutory requirements, and is the representative for the Board when liaising with the Minister and Secretary. The role requires a commitment of 1-2 days/week to fully exercise the duties required.
Who we're looking forKey Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience leading high-functioning boards, that support accountability, relationships, corporate and clinical governance.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.Experience working in a high-risk legislative compliance context.Demonstrated ability to understand and navigate government processes.Expertise or qualifications that would be advantageous to the operation of the Board.The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring that government boards and committees reflect the rich diversity of the Victorian community.
