It encompasses the valleys of the Goulburn and Broken rivers and part of the Murray Valley, covering 10.5% of Victoria, with a population of 205,000 people across municipalities and shires.
The catchment stretches from close to the outskirts of greater Melbourne in the south, to the Murray River in the north, Mt Buller to the east and the Mt Camel Range to the west.The Authority operates under the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994, focusing on sustainable development and the protection of land and water resources through partnerships with government departments, water authorities, municipal councils, and the local community.The Authority also has statutory responsibilities under the Water Act 1989, including waterway management, floodplain management and regional drainage functions.
In partnership with the State Government and the community, the Goulburn Broken CMA is responsible for the implementation of the Regional Catchment Strategy, its monitoring and reporting.The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority is seeking a leader who is passionate and practiced in building strong cultures that support terrific staff to give their very best in support of our communities and lead the mission of achieving a significant step change in the health and sustainability of the Goulburn Broken catchment.
This position will play a pivotal role in guiding the Authority's strategic direction, policy development, and daily operations, and fostering meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, Traditional Owners, and the broader community.As the CEO, the position will support the Board's strategic goals by leading the strengthening of the Catchment Authority partnerships with Traditional Owners through knowledge sharing, capability building and delivering the best possible outcomes for our Goulburn Broken catchment.
Engaging across a complex stakeholder group, the CEO will build the reputation of the Catchment Authority, evaluating the profile regionally, and beyond, and effectively advocating for policy change.
As an inspirational and purpose driven leader, the CEO will drive operational excellence and increase staff performance, creating a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.To be considered for this role, you will be a strategic and transformational leader, with a track record of cultivating cultures of high performance and engagement.
You bring related sector expertise in natural resources, agriculture, sustainability, statutory authorities or public sector, and sound experience in advocacy, partnerships and engagement with Traditional Owners.
As a proven executive, you will have sound operational and financial management and experience engaging with Boards and complex stakeholder groups.
