Centre Director - Yurauna Early Childhood Centre (Identified Position)

Details of the offer

Established in 1976, Northside Community Service is a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to serving the diverse needs of North Canberra and beyond. We are committed to social justice, diversity, and giving a voice to the marginalised. Our broad array of services includes early childhood education, aged care, youth programs, family support, housing initiatives, community development, outreach, and volunteer opportunities.
We are excited to offer a part-time opportunity for a Centre Director at Yurauna Early Childhood Centre, reporting to the General Manager of Early Education. We are committed to providing high-quality educational programs that support positive outcomes for all children, and we seek leaders who share this commitment.
The Centre, located at CIT Yurauna Centre, supports the learning and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from birth to school age. The Centre Director will collaborate closely with CIT Yurauna to ensure a culturally safe space for these children.
Being a Centre Director at Northside is unique. Our Centre Directors are not confined to the office or focused on managing waiting lists. Instead, they are teachers and educators first, actively engaged in classrooms with children, leading and demonstrating exceptional practices with their teams, and building strong communities of children, families, and educators through their dedication to the National Quality Framework.
We offer extensive leadership support and development through fortnightly leadership meetings, regular supervision sessions, professional development, and more. Leaders at Northside gain a deep understanding of the National Quality Framework in practice and acquire skills that advance their careers in early education.
This role is part-time, with 7.6 hours per day from Tuesday to Thursday, and will be off during CIT term breaks.
About You The ideal candidate will have:
An Early Childhood Teaching Degree as approved by ACECQA (or working towards this qualification). A belief that children are confident and capable learners. A readiness to be challenged on their approach to early childhood education. An understanding of the Mandatory Reporting requirements in the ACT, as prescribed in the Children and Young People Act (1999). A current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration. Benefits of Joining Northside Competitive salary range $108,575 - $113,488 including superannuation. Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging options that increase your take-home pay. Generous leave entitlements including Personal/Carer's leave, Paid Holiday Shutdown, Paid Parental Leave, Study Leave, and more. Opportunities for professional development and career advancement within a supportive team environment. Commitment to Safety and Inclusion Northside Community Service is dedicated to child safety and adheres to strict recruitment processes to ensure this. Candidates must pass comprehensive screenings and will be thoroughly inducted into our safety protocols. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, seeking candidates from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the LGBTIQA+ community, people with disabilities, and others.
This is a designated position in accordance with section 42 of the Discrimination Act 1991 and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage is considered essential, and therefore a Confirmation of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander heritage may be requested.
