Gladstone Hospital is at present a regional hospital with a total capacity of 79-beds with the ability to increase to over 100 beds and treatment spaces (with a new emergency department opening a total 36 treatment spaces).
Gladstone Hospital is the hub for Gladstone and Banana regions.
The Hospital offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including Emergency, General Medicine and Surgery, basic Orthopaedic, Clinical Investigation, Obstetrics, Maternity, Gynaecology, High-Dependency and Coronary Care, Palliative Care, Medical Imaging, Pathology and Paediatrics.
Additional services include Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs Service, Oral Health, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Speech Pathology and Outreach/community-based facilities, as well as a Primary Health Care Centre located at Boyne Valley.
About the role: Approximately 600 babies are born at the Gladstone Hospital each year and approximately 3165 surgical cases are performed in the two operating theatres.
The Women and Newborn unit is a three (3) birth suite, 14-bed ward with a four (4) cot nursery and has a nine (9) bed General Paediatric Ward.
Nursing and midwifery staff are supported clinically in the ward by Senior Medical Officer (SMO) and Resident Medical Officer (RMO) cover 24/7.
Administrative support for the ward and the department is also provided.
About you: Mandatory qualification/s: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration as a nurse and/or midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Non-mandatory qualifications/requirements: Post Graduate qualification in relevant area is desirable.
Ability to contribute towards the efficient and effective functioning of the Neonatal nursery through commitment to multi-skilling and flexibility.
Demonstrated ability to contribute towards the efficient management of resources in the Neonatal nursery.
Demonstrated knowledge of and/or involvement in quality management and research processes within a multi-disciplinary team.
What we offer: Salary information: Total remuneration value of up to $110,726 p.a.
is comprised of: An hourly rate between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h.
