Employment Type: Temporary - Variable Full TimePosition Classification: Career Medical OfficerRemuneration: $139187 - $168166Hours Per Week: 38Requisition ID: REQ546471 - Central Coast Local Health District - Intensive Care Unit - Career Medical OfficerCentral Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) has a unique opportunity for doctors with substantial experience managing patients in critical care environment interested in joining our group on the Central Coast.The roleThe ICU CMO will augment the Rapid Responses Service at Gosford and other clinical tasks at the direction of the duty Intensivist, and when needed will provide roster relief particularly when unexpected roster shortfalls in the ICU CMO roster at Wyong.There will be the opportunity to contribute to the Central Coast Retrieval Service when medical escort is more suited to a senior critical care doctor.The CMO will also participate in non-clinical portfolios and participate in the development of rapid response service and critical care services.The ICUsThe Intensive Care Units at Wyong and Gosford Hospitals work as a networked service.Wyong Hospital ICU has 12 physical spaces and 6 funded beds with capacity to ventilate 3 patients.Gosford Hospital ICU has 24 physical bed spaces with 14 funded beds & the capacity to ventilate 11 patients.The Intensive Care Services also manages the Central Coast Road Retrieval Service.The health districtThe NSW Central Coast is positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, with a population that is expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 before 2030.
Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) provides over 700 beds across its network facilities comprising Gosford Hospital, Wyong Hospital, Long Jetty Continuing Care Unit, Woy Woy Hospital and various Community Health Centres and Services.
CCLHD has strong connections with Royal North Shore Hospital and is affiliated with the University of Newcastle.Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and a trauma centre for the Central Coast, with approximately 500 inpatient beds and 24-hour access to its Emergency Department and Operating Theatres.
Inpatient services include Coronary and Intensive Care, General Medicine, Neurology, Renal, Geriatrics, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Mental Health, Paediatric and Emergency services.
Outpatient and community services include Allied Health, Dental, Podiatry, Nursing, Child and Adolescent and Family Health, Drug and Alcohol, and Cardiac Rehabilitation.Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern part of the NSW Central Coast.
Wyong Hospital has approx 300 inpatient beds and provides a range of medical, surgical and critical care services.
Specialty services include Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Drug and Alcohol, Gastroenterology, Stroke, Mental Health, Rehabilitation, Orthopaedics, Vascular, Urology and Cancer services.
Wyong Hospital is further developing its role as a district general hospital for a growing population with a $200 million expansion close to completion that will deliver a new Emergency Department, ICU, Paediatric unit, Theatres and inpatient units allowing the further development of clinical services.For questions contact our JMO Recruitment Team via more information about what it is like to work with us please watch our Welcome Video:Welcome VideoCareer OpportunitiesAlso please connect with us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date with career opportunities.MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.Worked a minimum of 12 months in the Australian Health system or an equivalent competent authority country with a minimum of six years hospital work, including extensive experience in anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency.Competency in the procedural skills of rapid sequence intubation, central venous and arterial access, PICC lines and tube thoracostomy.
Demonstrated experience of independently performing these skills.
Experience in the intra-hospital transport of ventilated patients.
