This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice.
Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency. Central Coast Local Area Health is currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Dental Assistants (Grade 1) to join their Oral Health Service team on both a temporary full-time and part-time basis.

As part of a dynamic team, you'll help provide essential dental treatment to a diverse patient population while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and infection control.
As a Dental Assistant with the Central Coast Local Health District, your primary responsibility will be to assist clinicians in the provision of dental treatment to patients of all ages, including those with physical, developmental, or mental health disabilities.
Your duties will include preparing patients for treatment, assisting with clinical procedures, maintaining infection control protocols, and performing manual cleaning of dental instruments for sterilisation.
You will also provide support in reception duties, including client registration, appointment scheduling, and general administrative tasks in line with departmental policies.
In this role, you'll be expected to maintain high standards of infection control and adhere to all relevant safety and clinical guidelines, including those set by the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and CCLHD policies.
You will work under the supervision of the Grade 2 Dental Assistant Supervisor and collaborate with a team of clinicians, offering both direct patient care and operational support within a busy, patient-focused dental environment.
About YouYou have a Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or recognised equivalent); or, adequate relevant experience as a Dental Assistant.You have a detailed knowledge of infection control procedures for a Dental Clinic setting.You have a valid Drivers' Licence, and a willingness to travel to various locations within the District.You have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, clinicians, and administrative staff.
This includes interacting with patients in a compassionate manner, handling sensitive information with discretion, and managing telephone and front-desk duties.Where you'll be workingThis role will require you to work in various dental clinics across the district, including those with specialised facilities for patients with complex needs.
You may also be required to assist in dental procedures performed in operating theatres, depending on your qualifications and training.
