The Opportunity:
Cazalys is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Manager to shape and lead HR initiatives that support a culture of excellence and empower employees across all levels. Reporting to the General Manager, the role will oversee a wide range of HR functions, from performance management to recruitment, and will work closely with Department Heads and Club General Managers at all venues, including AFL Cairns, South Cairns Sports Club and Trinity Beach Sports Club. You will be a pragmatic and dynamic individual, comfortable rolling up your sleeves, with a proven track record of seamlessly shifting from hands-on support within the Clubs of day-to-day management requirements, to leading strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and practical experience working with a large and varied workforce.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Oversee compensation, benefits, and performance management systems to maintain competitive and compliant HR programs. Drive and oversee the recruitment process. Provide current and prospective employees with clear information about job duties, policies, benefits, and opportunities for advancement. Lead the implementation of safety programs and monitor WHS compliance through the STEMS Work Health and Safety Platform. Manage the payroll process, ensuring efficiency and compliance with Modern Awards and contracts. Handle complex employee relations issues, including dispute resolution, disciplinary actions, and employee exits. Advise, guide and support all managers on organisational policy matters, such as equal opportunity and workplace conduct, recommending necessary changes. Conduct training needs analysis and implement development programs to support employee growth and safety. Maintain accurate personnel records and compile reports to support HR decision-making. Collaborate with management and employees to foster open communication and resolve workplace issues. Assist as required, with large functions or sporting events. Your Skills & Experience: Relevant qualifications in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience. Strong knowledge of HR practices, legislation, and compliance requirements. Proven experience in recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations. Proficiency in payroll processes and the ability to confidently oversee this process. Strong understanding of Australian employment laws and HR best practices. A proactive approach to supporting and advising managers on all HR matters. Significant experience leading workforce management and planning across a complex workforce in a dynamic environment, of both full time, part time and casual staff. Confidence to investigate grievances and complaints, recommend and manage disciplinary outcomes as required. Excellent communication and relationship building skills. Demonstrated capability in handling sensitive matters with professionalism and integrity. A proactive and solutions focused mindset, with the ability to translate complex problems into simple and tangible solutions. Experience with WHS programs and health and safety compliance. The Offer:
