Caterpillar Financial currently has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Finance team in Financial Products Division based in Tullamarine.
This position will be responsible for carrying out activities necessary to provide financial compliance and analysis of business results.
Job Description:
Under limited supervision, conduct a wide variety of complex accounting duties and projects.
Assignments and work are generally broad in nature requiring a broad knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
Make recommendations for changes in policies and procedures to correct accounting related problems and processes.
Provide training, guidance and check the work of less experienced accounting staff.
Research and provide guidance on proper classification of transactions.

Responsibilities:
Maintaining financial records in accordance with GAAP and organisational standards.
Perform complex reconciliations; Be conversant with reporting based on US GAAP and IFRS; Preparation of Statutory Accounts based on AASB GAAP specifically focussed on AASB7 and AASB9 standards; Business planning and forecasting and analysis of actual result versus plan; Compliance with all policies and procedures to a high degree of accuracy.
Understands and assist with the established continuous improvement objectives for the department.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
Qualifications & Experience:
A finance / business / accounting degree or equivalent experience and CPA or CA qualifications.
Finance company or Banking experience are preferable.
6+ years experience in Accountant role.
