Category SpecialistAre you an experienced procurement professional with a passion for delivering high-quality services and products in a dynamic environment? Our client is seeking a Category Specialist to join our team and lead the procurement process across our three port sites, ensuring the seamless delivery of operations and maintenance services.
Position Overview:As a Category Specialist reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation's mission by managing procurement categories that are crucial to our business needs. You will be responsible for leading and supporting the rapid sourcing project, expediting the sourcing and awarding of maintenance services and supply agreements. This senior role requires a strong business partner who can provide contracting and procurement support to key internal stakeholders, ensuring that all activities align with the client's mission, vision, and corporate values.
Key Responsibilities:Procurement Management: Manage assigned procurement categories, delivering end-to-end contracting and procurement requirements, and developing sourcing and category plans to meet stakeholder needs, including ESG, supply security, and social licence imperatives.Stakeholder Engagement: Increase stakeholder satisfaction by identifying and engaging collaboratively with internal teams, ensuring alignment of supply chain strategies and delivering value-driven solutions.Supplier Management: Proactively engage with core and strategic market suppliers, identifying improvement opportunities through effective category planning and stakeholder engagement.Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with the organisations policies, State Government procurement processes and Government legislation. Prepare and submit WA Government WAIPS and Aboriginal Procurement Policy compliance reports on time.Contract Management: Lead the evaluation of offers, develop evaluation methodologies, and ensure that procurement policies and procedures are followed. Manage the contracting process, ensuring all contracts are effectively handed over and documented in the Contract and Lease Register.Essential Skills and Experience:Contract and Category Management: Practical hands-on experience in negotiating, documenting, managing, and closing out contracts and agreements, with a strong understanding of category management principles, tools, and techniques.Stakeholder Relationship Development: Proven track record of building and managing successful stakeholder relationships, with strong written and verbal communication skills.Technical Proficiency: Experience in using ERP systems and Procure to Pay (P2P) business processes, along with proficiency in using spreadsheet and word processing applications (e.g., Excel, Word).Desirable Experience:Industry Knowledge: Experience within the shipping, transport, and port operations sectors, with a good working knowledge of maintenance and port operations category scopes and markets.Contract Management Best Practices: Familiarity with best practices in contract management systems and processes, including maintenance planning and delivery models.Qualifications:Education: Suitable degree qualification in business, commerce, legal, or a related field.Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, with experience in category and sourcing strategy development and execution.Additional Requirements:Ability to travel to multiple locations across (Albany, Bunbury, Esperance, and Perth).Current minimum C Class driver's licence.Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).Our client is dedicated to maintaining our ports as key economic gateways.
