Job Description

Due to an internal promotion, an exciting opportunity has become available for a strategic, analytical & influential Category Manager to join the CHEP Australia Sales Strategy team!

Purpose of the role:
Develop the CHEP AU strategy for assigned product categories, including Product, Price and Place (customer segmentation, market share / penetration, customer value proposition, product development and strategic pricing).
Manage performance of the category to budget expectations and long-term organisational strategy.
Drive the development and delivery of specific projects for growth as identified by the business, including managing the commercial contact process for all major initiatives.
Manage and maintain the base service offer and seek operational process improvement opportunities for the category.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities:
Design and execute the platform strategy optimising customer value, delivering revenue growth and market penetration in target customer segments, and sustainable pricing.
In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop and track performance to budget, 4-year plan, and forecasts in line with business requirements.
Drive the development of specific projects/tools for growth as identified by the business, including steering the broader sales team and the Go-to-Market plans for the category.
Own the demand management through forecasting and planning and providing strategic leadership in areas such as network adjustments and procurement decisions.
Develop and embed strategic pricing within the business.
Identify and manage risks and opportunities beyond the plan and lead the reporting out to key stakeholders.
Platform life-cycle management, including managing new product and service developments.
Provide direction for sustainable profit growth through asset utilisation and capital management, and development of profit improvement initiatives.
Act as the conduit between the Sales organisation and Supply Chain, or any other relevant area of the Company for all platform related matters (e.g., quality, innovation, etc.).
Compile and monitor competitor activity, changes in customer behaviour and insights into market trends which may impact business decisions.
Act as knowledge expert for developments with the category globally; create a network for information sharing within and outside CHEP.
