About the Team The Procurement on Contracts are a valued group of strategic partners to the organisation, leveraging our expertise in procurement and contract management to provide guidance across governance, business process, risk management, and compliance.
About the Role As Category Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring optimal contract management practices across the ICT portfolio while fostering a highly effective and engaged team dedicated to excellence. You will be responsible for implementing category strategies aligned with organisational goals, driving strategic sourcing initiatives, managing relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
As part of the leadership team this position is responsible for leading the Procurement ICT Team to successfully deliver strategic sourcing projects that will support Queensland Rail to implement its transformational ICT blueprint.
We have a large pipeline of exciting procurement initiatives leading up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include: Lead, coach and develop a team of sourcing specialists to achieve set targets, objectives, safety responsibilities and performance metrics. Implement and develop category strategies and subsequently sourcing plans. Lead the team in effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain strong working relationships. Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis including commercial evaluation, risk analysis, negotiation, and due diligence on suppliers. Ensure effective contract management practices are in place across the business to achieve optimal commercial outcomes, maximise the performance of suppliers, and meet legislative requirements. Employment Type/Remuneration: This is a fixed-term, fulltime position (ending 27/03/2026, based in Brisbane CBD with a starting base salary of $146,240 plus 12.75% superannuation and hybrid work options to support the balance between work and personal commitments.
What we're looking for: Experience with leading a small team, creating and achieving a desired future state and the ability to communicate direction (vison and values) with enthusiasm. Demonstrated experiences in category management (ICT Desirable) and a high level of skill in commercial acumen across large scale contracts and global suppliers. High-level skills in developing category plans / strategies and proven experience in best practice procurement and sourcing. Ability to demonstrate high-level skills in influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building, and commercial negotiations.
