About the OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager – HR to join our Central Function based at Flexible locations (Adelaide, Melbourne and potentially other locations based on the right candidate) reporting to the Head of Category Management & Procurement Shared Services.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be accountable for the delivery of category strategies that cover enterprise spend within an assigned portfolio of >$30M spend. Responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate category strategies and contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk.
Key responsibilities include:
Prepare, deliver and actively manage category strategies supporting the organisation to deliver the optimal value for money across managed spend Able to work with business to develop future demand forecasts, analysing internal requirements and external markets, providing guidance on scope development where neededDevelop, manage and assess procurement plans & sourcing strategies, ensuring that they align with category objectivesManage procurement engagement activities including, but not limited to, expressions of interest, requests for information, requests for quotation, requests for proposal, requests for tender, supplier negotiations and contract development and executionManage the supplier evaluation process and make sourcing recommendations to the business to meet the category objectivesManage category/enterprise level supplier negotiations and finalise supplier agreements in accordance with set procedures and Delegations Of Authority (DOA), ensuring to collaborate with global category teams in order to achieve category objectivesEnsure adherence to contractual obligations through effective contract management planning, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow, flow down of contract amendmentsManage the approval, maintenance and close out of purchase orders, ensuring timely payments and deliveryAbout YOU Experience in managing the procurement elements of bids and customer tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and commercial termsStrong leadership skills and engaging with key stakeholders to develop required capabilities in the supply baseAble to apply project management skillset to delivery of procurement projects, ensuring delivery on time and on budgetMaintain working awareness of the external business environment consisting of but not limited to; economic, political and legal, demographic, social, competitive, global, and technological sectorsPreparing and delivering category reports, presentations, tracking and monitoring supplier performance and savingsDemonstrated experience in Commercial, Procurement and/or Supply Chain including the development and negotiation of contracts with key suppliersDemonstrated experience in the development and execution of category management strategies across a diverse portfolioQualifications in Engineering, Project Management, Commerce, Law or Business Management is preferableEligibility to obtain security clearance as requiredWe believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
