CATCON deliver and manage projects in the Power and Infrastructure sectors, with an impressive portfolio of completed projects across Power: gas, wind, solar, hybrid power, and Infrastructure: general, roads, bridges, structures, including for the mining and water sectors.
Position and Person Profile Reporting to the QSE Manager, CATCON and Project Managers, the roles will take carriage of site wide safety and environmental systems and requirements, deliver on the project agenda and meet the projects priorities, full compliance, and ensure the objectives meet company, regulatory and client standards for the project.
These HSE Advisor roles are hands-on, working across the project sites, liaising with all project stakeholders and working closely with the client representatives and the various contractors on sites. You have extensive experience in the field of HSE, preferably in the Construction sector and understand the WHSE legislation in SA.
You are passionate about all things WHSE and able to provide practical HSE services to the project leaders and project stakeholders. You like to drive improvements, be organised, energetic and display objective judgement in decision making.
Key Tasks include :
CATCON already has a strong WHSE culture, so we see this role as delivering and leading continual improvement and compliance across the various projects in the following focus areas:
Advising Project, Site Managers & Supervisors on matters of Health & Safety compliance, as well as statutory requirements Liaising with the client on HSE matters Deliver site training on HSE, including toolbox meetings, JSEA and safety inductions Taking part in Safety Audits across sites Producing site specific OHS reports; conducting site inspections; undertaking accident investigations Setting up site HSE requirements (e.g signage. publications, first aid/hazardous chemicals) Skills and Experience :
Qualifications in health, safety and environment (required); or A trade or engineering background, with a proven background of operating in a previous safety role, with qualifications Experience on industrial scale projects such as roads, water, bridges or power stations, renewables Experience and clearance to work on DIT roads Working knowledge of HSE legislation and best practice Strong communication skills and high levels of motivation Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office suite Demonstrated experience with implementing HSE agenda from project start-up For further information about the company visit
