THE ROLE They are seeking to appoint a Business Development Manager (BDM) to ensure the organisation meets its strategic goals, drives revenue growth, and enhances its competitive market presence. The Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a vital role within the executive team, responsible for leading the organisation's commercial strategy and collaborating closely with the CEO and fellow executives. This position oversees revenue-generating functions such as sales, marketing, business development, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Drive revenue growth through innovative sales, marketing, and business development strategies. Build and develop a high-achieving revenue-generating team to manage the end-to-end sales process. Develop and implement innovative engagement strategies to maximise occupancy and match properties with participants. Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with the organisation's mission. Develop and implement innovative engagement strategies to maximise participation and drive revenue generation through donations and funding support for the organisation. Partner with the executive team to guide the organisation's strategic direction. Provide regular updates on commercial performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives to the executive team and board. Stay current on the company's competitive positioning to enhance effectiveness and secure a competitive advantage. Monitor market trends and industry activities to identify and pursue new market opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams. Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and sponsors. Lead negotiations and manage contracts for commercial partnerships and collaborations. Oversee integrated sales and marketing plans to promote the organisation's services and products. Collaborate with the CFO to manage the commercial budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability. Monitor and analyse financial performance and adjust strategies to achieve targets. Lead and mentor a high-performing commercial team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional development. Set KPIs for sales and marketing teams, ensuring a customer-centric approach. Provide the team with the necessary skills, resources, and tools to meet objectives. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE: 10 years' experience in senior commercial or sales roles. Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is preferred. Proven track record in managing B2B stakeholder relationships. Experience negotiating with senior executives and government agencies. Proven leadership in managing and developing high-performing, diverse teams. Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with the Australian market, particularly in the biodiversity and conservation space (desirable). Passion for environment conservation and sustainability. High level of integrity and professionalism.
