Toowoomba Grammar School was founded in 1875 and is a member school of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland (GPS). It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales, and the Northern Territory. The School's campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

About the Position The purpose of the Teacher Aide - Diverse Learners role is to enhance the educational experience of students with special needs at the school. This position plays a critical support role by assisting these students and their teachers throughout the term, facilitating a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. Reporting to the Headmaster through the Head of Diverse Learners, the Teacher Aide – Diverse Learners works closely with the teachers of each specific student to provide tailored support that addresses individual learning challenges. This includes assisting in daily school routines, supporting students during class activities and with homework, making reasonable adjustments during exams, and creating modified learning resources.
TGS is inviting Expressions of Interest for this role, with interest assessed on a term-by-term basis and intakes conducted as operational needs arise.
About you: You possess high level communication and organisational skills, as well as a foundational education and, preferably, qualifications in education support. You play a pivotal role in fostering the academic and personal growth of students with special needs, guaranteeing they receive the essential support required for educational success.
You will demonstrate a strong passion for understanding special needs education within an inclusive learning environment. Your strengths will be evident in your excellent communication with various stakeholders, and you will bring valuable experience in developing effective strategies to support students with empathy in an educational setting.
