Second Home exists to help people with a disability enjoy a happy and healthy stay. Guests are encouraged to take part in tailoring their respite experiences and participate in respite experiences within local communities.
The Support Worker's role exists to ensure the support delivery to enable people with disabilities to enjoy happy and healthy stays. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate support workers to assist our clients in the Leopold and East Geelong areas. The role involves providing high-quality care and support tailored to individual client needs, fostering their independence and well-being.
Key Accountability Areas:Personal Hygiene Assistance Personal Hygiene is important to help prevent illness and disease and may also impact upon an individual's social and emotional well-being. The assistance provided by a Second Home support worker is subject to a guest's needs and may include but is not limited to:
Washing hands after going to the toiletBathing/showeringBrushing teethMobility Support Second Home support workers assist guests in participating in everyday activities. This may include, but is not limited to:
Assisting guests to use mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walking sticks, walking frames, etc.Assisting guests with mobility aids such as splints, braces, shower chairs, etc.Assisting guests to navigate ramps, stairs, etc.TransportationShopping Tasks Second Home support workers assist guests in performing shopping tasks as required. This may include:
Escorted Shopping Trips - escorting guests on local trips to supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, etc.Unescorted Shopping Trips – performing shopping tasks on behalf of guestsHousekeeping Housekeeping refers to the tasks involved in running of the house such as cleaning, cooking and home maintenance. Housekeeping is essential to maintaining a safe home environment for both our guests and our staff. Housekeeping tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Meal preparation, cooking and tidying upCleaning roomsVacuuming, mopping and sweepingNotifying the house manager of any required maintenanceCoordination of Social Activities During their stay, guests choose from a range of in-house and community-based activities. Second Home support workers assist guests in participating in their chosen activities.
