Wagga Wagga City Council are seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join our Art Gallery team! We are seeking professional and friendly staff to join our Art Gallery team as Casual Gallery Installers. Applications will be retained on file to fill vacancies within our casual pool as they arise throughout the year. Remuneration of $34.34 gross per hour + superannuation. The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: Assist the Curator and Gallery Technical Officer, within an install team to prepare, install and de-install 2D / 3D artworks and audio and visual equipment. Provide a high level of principles in relation to artwork handling (due care). Undertake the use of tools and installation equipment as directed and as required (i.e., cordless power tools, hand tools, ladders, laser levels). Provide support to unwrap and wrap artworks to a high degree of care. Undertake manual lifting of exhibition furniture, movable wall sections and loading/unloading of trucks. Assist the Curator and Gallery Technical Officer to position lighting on artworks. Prepare wall surfaces and undertake painting tasks prior to artwork exhibitions. Maintain and clean exhibition spaces and work areas. Undertake artwork condition reporting as directed. What you will need to succeed: Qualifications and experience relevant to the role in the following sectors: Arts, Gallery or Museum, Customer Service and/or retail; Previous experience installing complex small to large scale exhibitions, preferably in a cultural organisation; Experience working in a small team and under the direction of a team leader; Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure; and To be highly motivated and enthusiastic.
