Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains Blacktown LGA Part time – 2 Days / Week (fixed term) At Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, we've been providing support and professional care to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community for more than 25 years.
Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains is currently looking for a support worker (2 days/week) to work in our Houses to Homes transitional accommodation program alongside our team of qualified case workers.
As a case support worker, you'll be working closely with our case work team to support our young mums aged 16-25 years and their children in achieving their case plan goals. You will be providing hands-on practical support to the team and clients during your two days of work, including but not limited to transportation to and from appointments, assisting with the distribution of Oz Harvest food hamper deliveries, and arranging and facilitating group activities for clients.
This position is fixed term until 30 July 2025; however, there is opportunity for extension if funding for our program is extended.
Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains welcomes applications from recent graduates or those currently completing their tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as social work or community services.
Your opportunity In this role, you'll bring your passion for working closely with vulnerable clients to support them by:
Providing a strengths-based approach to supporting clientsAssisting in the facilitation of group activities with clientsProviding practical support to clients such as transportation and material aidWorking closely with the case work team to assist clients in achieving case plan goalsEnsuring the safety and well-being of the children and mothers in the programMaintaining timely data entry and case notes on both internal and external reporting systemsParticipating in training, supervision, and professional developmentWhat you'll bring We'd love to see that you either hold or are working towards a tertiary qualification in Social Work, community services, or a relevant field.Experience in working with "at risk" clients (not essential).Knowledge of relevant child protection legislation and NSW child safe standards.Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholdersExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsCurrent NSW Driver's Licence - P1 or above, and access to your own insured vehicle for work purposesAt Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, we exist to make a positive difference to our community through the Church.
