Full Time max-term contract until June 2025This role is paid under the SCHADS - Level 5 The opportunity The Case Manager is responsible for providing professional and accountable case management for children and young persons, their family and carers in the Samaritans Permanency Support Program. In addition, Case Managers are required to proactively engage and work with families to facilitate restoration for children/young people in care.
This will be achieved through regular family and carer contact, remaining non-judgemental and empathetic and providing enhanced strategies for positive parenting.
The Permanency Support Program operates across Newcastle, Central Coast, Upper and Lower Hunter and Western NSW regions.

Maintain accurate and professional case notes and other related documentationPositively contribute to teamwork and embrace a co-operative approach to achieving outcomesAbout you  Tertiary degree qualification in Social Work, Community Welfare, Psychology, Education or any other relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant transferable experience Demonstrated ability to use a holistic based approach in implementing and overseeing case management and case plans Strong interpersonal skills that provide the basis for effective negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution practices and outcomes Sound professional knowledge and theory base particularly in the areas of trauma, attachment and therapeutic care Highly developed case management documentation skills Proven ability to develop rapport with carers, child /young people and their families/significant others in order to support informed decision-making and skills development for living within the community Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability, including records of children and young people and their families, team and organisational discussions The ability to effectively develop and maintain positive working relationships and networks with other agencies Demonstrated ability to participate positively in teamwork, training and supervision processes Demonstrated understanding of the relevant Government legislation applicable to the Permanency Program The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, Criminal History Check, First aid & CPR certificates and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.
