Case Management Officer - Seniors Legal and Support ServiceHervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre – Hervey Bay QLDA range of professional development opportunitiesHere is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary service providing free legal and support assistance for people aged 60 or older, and 50 or over for ATSI clients, across the Fraser Coast local government area experiencing, or at risk of, abuse or exploitation.Seniors Legal and Support Service (SLASS) is funded to provide legal and support services to meet the needs of older people at risk of elder abuse or financial exploitation.ABOUT THE ROLEThe SLASS Case Management Officer will seek to promote the independence, safety and security of seniors and to minimise the risk of exploitation or harm. Services may include general information, appropriate referral, casework and court/tribunal representation, court support, crisis or short-term counselling, needs assessment and management of support plans, individual advocacy and community education work.ABOUT YOUThe successful applicant will bring:Relevant qualification in Human Services or equivalent.A strong commitment to human rights and social justice principles.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, within a legal framework, to deliver holistic service.High level communication skills including public speaking, advocacy and conflict resolution skills.Current C class driver's licence or the ability to obtain within an agreed timeframe.Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to readily obtain.Knowledge and experience in working with, and advocating on behalf of, older people including capacity, guardianship and administration matters.SELECTION CRITERIAQualification in Human Services or equivalent and a minimum 3 years industry experience in counselling, social work or equivalent.Demonstrated experience working with, and advocating on behalf of, older people and a strong client service focus on human rights and social justice.Demonstrated ability to case-manage including provision of direct, structured and practical support to individual clients.Willingness to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, within a legal framework, in close partnership with solicitors in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of a holistic service.Demonstrated high level communication skills including public speaking, advocacy and conflict resolution skills.Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of community education.Current C class driver's licence, or ability to obtain within an agreed time frame, and Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to readily obtain.ABOUT USThe Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre is located in the rapidly growing sea change community of Hervey Bay and has become well known as a community meeting place.
