The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts, and strives to minimize service system barriers to the recovery process.
WREN is an innovative project being developed in response to the Royal Commission recommendations for partnerships between the public and private sector, and the need for gender segregation and sexually safe units.
We recognize that women experiencing mental ill-health have specific needs that differ from their male counterparts that require tailored treatment and support.
Our 30-bed facility located at Albert Road Clinic will be run in a partnership between Ramsay Health and Alfred Health.
The unit will provide a state-wide comprehensive specialist service for women and those who identify as women experiencing severe mental ill-health and trauma. Our care will be trauma-informed and wellness-focused.
The Lived Experience Workforce within AMAH is a growing and thriving workforce of designated lived experience roles. These roles include but are not limited to: Directors of Lived/Living Experience, Peer/Carer Program Coordinator, Senior Peer/Carer Support Workers, Consumer Consultants, Carer Consultants, Discovery College Leads and Educators, Peer/Carer Practice Leads, and Peer/Carer Support Workers. We work across the Hospital and Emergency, Adult and Older Adult, headspace and Infant, Child & Youth, and Statewide Services including the Women's Mental Health Service and the Residential Eating Disorders Service.
What you'll be doing As an integral and highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will provide peer support to carers and families that have a relative or friend receiving care from the Woman's Recovery Network (WREN). You will work in partnership with the AMAH Manager of Carer Peer Workforce Development, WREN Carer Peer Practice Lead, Senior Carer Peer Worker, Carer Consultant, and multidisciplinary team to ensure the unique needs of families are understood and that families are supported during the treatment planning processes.
Support and supervision of the Carer Peer Support Workers is provided by the Senior Carer Peer. In addition, group supervision and reflective practice is co-facilitated by the Practice Lead and Workforce Development.
