Location ProfileNaranga is a school in Frankston for students aged 5 to 18 who have a mild intellectual disability. Our motto is Learning for Life, and we aim to prepare each student to be an active contributor within the community. We provide an engaging and comprehensive developmental curriculum that ensures each student will achieve personal success, and achieve progress within a supportive environment.
An Individual Education Plan is developed for each student in consultation with families and carers. The Victorian Curriculum is delivered within a framework of whole-school expectations. Students in their final two years of school work towards transitioning into post school options. Senior students also have the opportunity to participate in select TAFE courses and also SBATS.
Selection CriteriaKSC1: Demonstrated or capacity to deliver workplace programs within a school environment and relevant knowledge of post school options and institutions.KSC2: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning and implementing programs for learners with disabilities and diverse needs.KSC3: Demonstrated capacity to develop professional knowledge and experience to deliver required services including case management and course/careers counselling.KSC4: Demonstrated knowledge of Work experience programs, VET and SBAT programs, including knowledge and experience of the Victorian Pathways Certificate and knowledge of applied learning practices.KSC5: Demonstrated high level communication skills with a range of stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, support staff, work experience placements, tertiary providers, and other relevant agencies and organisations.KSC6: Demonstrated organisational and time management skills in a work environment where day to day priorities and tasks may vary considerably.RoleDelivery and administration of a range of career support services.Present careers-based information sessions in classes.Engage with the Pathways team to support students access to appropriate apprenticeships and traineeship and/or pathway opportunities.Attend outside agency meetings such as Careers Practitioners Seminars & relevant meetings.ResponsibilitiesVASS experience preferred with a clear understanding of the VCAA requirements.Strong communication, planning and scheduling skills are required to enable adherence to VCAA timelines.Working collaboratively with staff, ensuring all enrolments and changes are entered and regularly updated on VASS.Career practitioner certificate.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
