Further, demonstrated ability to monitor and assess outcomes against agreed criteria (student, school, and program objectives) and respond agilely in instances where outcomes are falling short of expectations.SC 6: A commitment and capacity to actively contribute to broader College programs (P-12), and ongoing commitment to professional learning and growth in the Careers, Pathways and Industry Engagement field.RoleWorking in consultation with the Principal and College leadership teams, the person appointed to this significant role will oversee the successful implementation of Career Education and Support processes across the College that apply the standards of ethical practice as required under the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners, including the CEAV Code of Ethics. For this reason, the person appointed to this role must hold a Graduate Certificate in Career Development Practice.
The Murtoa College Careers, Pathways & Industry Engagement Coordinator will be required to regularly work with students and families, and liaise with local community, educational, industry and employer entities to connect students to secure opportunities for our students to access meaningful career education through industry exposure, structured workplace learning, and employment opportunities.
This role plays an integral part in building and monitoring individual student pathways and development throughout for students in Years 7 - 12 by providing and organising reliable and appropriate careers, work, training and further/higher education advice and information to students. This is in addition to providing and organising appropriate support and communication with Classroom teachers, Leadership Team members and Families on pathways requirements. This role also plays a supportive role in the Student Futures and Pathways Team to facilitate authentic work experience, structured workplace learning and school-based apprenticeship experiences for our students.
ResponsibilitiesProfessional Practice Apply the standards of ethical practice as required under the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners, including the CEAV Code of Ethics.As a fully qualified careers practitioner (Graduate Diploma of Career Education or equivalent), give expert advice and work collaboratively with school staff, principal class, student wellbeing and support agencies (including Head Start Coordinator), students and families to develop and initiate a range of pathways programs, including course counselling, industry immersion and/or exposure experiences and structured workplace learning.Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including parents/carers, the Local Learning Employment Network, employers, community groups, RTOs and Head Start.Undertake training to be an accredited user of the Morrisby Profile to support the Student Futures & Pathways Team and students with course counselling and subject selection.Make a strong commitment to their own professional learning and growth.Student Support Build trust with Murtoa College students and their Families to enable them to engage in meaningful conversations about their training and employment ambitions, skills, support needs, etc.Proactively plan and participate in careers interviews strategically to meet the timely needs of students receiving careers advice.As a member of the Careers team, participate in interviews with students and their parents as requested by Leadership Team members, including student SSGs for funded students to provide professional advice.Lead the provision of high-quality advice and support to the school community in the development and implementation of programs, procedures and policies to ensure that all students are able to manage and plan career and study transitions.Facilitate the provision of job readiness training, including interview skills and resume preparation for all students.Contribute to the management and delivery of the Work Experience and Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Placement programs, including compliance with legal requirements.Provide counselling and support for students and families needing personalised or specialised pathways-based programs, vocation and work experience opportunities.Liaise with the Wellbeing and Disability Inclusion teams along with the principal class to facilitate pathway planning for students.Contribute to the careers and course selection components of the school program as part of the College's Student Futures and Pathways Team.Assist with the delivery of VTAC application sessions to students and parents/carers including SEAS and Scholarships.In consultation with the Student Futures & Pathways Team, arrange and assist with the counselling for VCE/VM/VPC students. This includes VTAC and further study options.Provide student counselling, documentation, and dissemination of actions in relation to changes to VCE programs and students going non-scored.Provide support and assistance to students who have exited (aged 15+) and follow-up tracking 6 months after exit.Curriculum Program Development & Support Support the Student Futures and Pathways team with curriculum development across Years 7 to 12 and other career programs including Career Action Plans.Train, support, and involve relevant Murtoa College staff in designing and delivering career education materials and opportunities in collaboration with local community, educational, industry and employer partners.Support Murtoa College staff to identify and broker industry partnerships through appropriate professional networks.Build and continually update high-level knowledge of the contemporary and future labour markets and further education courses.Evidence Based Practice Monitor a range of student data sets to identify students who may need additional pathways and transition support.Maintain a database of alternative education opportunities and guide Members of the Leadership team when required.Use evidence based practice to proactively Identify and communicate emerging student pathways issues.Utilise school-wide data to identify industries of highest interest amongst our students and broker relationships with employers, training providers, and peak bodies from these industries.Record and analyse data pertaining to employment pathways from Murtoa College and periodically report on key measurements to leadership and any relevant funding providers.Discern and contribute evidence-based information for the Principal to include in the Annual Report each year.Assist in tracking the paths and destinations of post compulsory students.Maintain up-to-date records and data that accurately reflect the engagement, achievements, challenges, and experiences of Murtoa College students in Careers education, training, and employment pathways.Undertake regular Careers needs and program evaluation assessments across the College.Provision of data to principal and other parties including ATAR results and course offers.Collaborate with each student's Student Connect teacher to ensure that students are linked with appropriate support services for any support needs outside of training and employment.Community Work within the whole school community to provide career, course and pathway information and support to students and their families.Organise, implement and participate actively in various Career events.Coordinate the distribution of careers literature through the school including newsletters and school magazine.Coordinate the implementation of career education tools and opportunities, and on/off site industry involvement into education delivered across Murtoa College.Deliver presentations to students about VTAC processes, procedures and timelines; including SEAS, scholarships, Key support of the application process, including SEAS and scholarships.Advise and support students throughout the change of preference period and offer rounds in January each year.Create careers focused video resources for subject selection, handbook, etc.Finance Working in consultation with the Student Futures and Pathways Team and Business/HR Manager manage the Career Education Funding budget and the allocation of resources in association with school policies.Advise the administration team to ensure students fees for VET are accurate and paid.Other Duties The person appointed to this role may be required to work some school holiday periods.Support the supervision of students where appropriate.Other duties as required by the Principal.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

Currently the F-6 area has a total of 84 students. Classes are run at each year level in years 7-12 and in the senior years we offer the VCE, VCE Vocational Major (VM) and Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). We also facilitate traineeships and assist students to find apprenticeships with local industries with the support of the onsite Headstart Coordinator.
Our college draws students from the local area, Murtoa College also has students who travel by bus each day from Horsham. The school services a wide area that ranges east to west from Horsham to Rupanyup (45 kilometres) and north to south from Minyip to Glenorchy (about 50 kilometres). Our feeder schools are Minyip Primary School, Rupanyup Primary School and Our Lady Help of Christians School. We also have a number of families in Horsham who choose to send their children to Murtoa College to provide their education in a rural setting with smaller class sizes. Murtoa College works in collaboration with these rural primary schools through the Dunmunkle Cluster where we network, share resources and support an extensive transition program.
The college has 23.5 EFT teaching staff plus 12.00 EFT education support staff working across administration, classroom support and maintenance. Murtoa College has a beautiful groodle named Rosie who is a therapy dog who is used to support the wellbeing of students and staff.
