An exciting opportunity is available at Ballina District Hospital for an Emergency Medicine Career Medical Officer (CMO).
The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3 years of postgraduate experience, including extensive, recent experience in emergency medicine / critical care medicine and will be required to participate in a 24/7 roster, including day, evening or night shifts.
The CMO will be responsible for providing independent, high level medical care, including the assessment, investigation and initial management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
They will be supervised by specialist staff and provide supervision and support to the Junior Medical staff in the Emergency Department.
This position also serves to support the completion of the Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC) or Emergency Medicine Diploma (EMD) through the Australian College of Emergency Medicine.
Where you'll be working The Ballina District Hospital (BDH) sees over 14,000 presentations per annum.
The Emergency Department is a 9 bed unit staffed by a highly qualified medical team of Career Medical Officers, Emergency Specialists, and Nursing staff providing care to patients of all ages with critical and acute illnesses.
BDH works closely with other facilities within the Northern NSW Local Health District, and if necessary, patients may be transferred to another site for continuing care.
The Lismore Base Hospital (LBH) is the recognised Trauma Centre for the North Coast Region and is linked with the local helicopter retrieval service.
What you'll be doing The primary purpose of the Career Medical Officer (CMO) is to provide independent, high level medical care, including responsibility for the assessment, investigation and initial management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department and admitted to inpatient wards.
The CMO will be supervised by specialist staff, and provide supervision and support to junior medical staff in the Emergency Department.
