Santos is on the lookout for a Carbon Analyst to be part of our Carbon Solutions Department. This role will be critical to strengthen and support the programs underway to deliver on Santos' 2040 vision and the Carbon Solutions carbon credit portfolio.
The key objective of this position is to provide spatial analysis and support for the origination, development and operations of nature and land-based carbon projects globally. The role will primarily involve analysis of spatial data to confirm eligibility of carbon projects and to calculate / verify potential carbon credit projects.
Key accountabilities include:
Spatial analysis and assessment of potential carbon credit projects under the Australian ACCU Scheme and other recognised international standards / bodies e.g. Gold Standard and VerraConduct spatial due diligence on existing carbon projects and their potential for credit deliveryAssist in providing carbon credit yield estimates and delivery profiles using methodology determinations and standards Assist in developing and supplying metrics associated with land use performance and report this data appropriately through Carbon Solutions and the Santos businessMaintain Carbon Solutions' database of norms for nature opportunitiesCreate and manage a geospatial data library from both internal and external data sourcesAssist in the delivery of mapping requests for the Carbon Solutions business to support internal and external reporting and presentations Assistance in discussions and the provisions of data to project auditors and verification bodies as required About You To stand out for this role, it is essential that you have demonstrated skills and experience in: 
Expertise and direct experience with GIS software MapInfo, ArcGIS and QGIS including analysis of large raster datasets that involve forestry and land use; experience with other spatial analytics software is good to haveStrong communication skills to liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders Other desirable experience for this role includes:  Working in the carbon farming industry either as a project originator/developer, auditor, regulator or consultantKnowledge of ACCU scheme methods and their relevant eligibility It is essential that you have relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably in forestry, geospatial or environmental sciences.
