Salary/Level: Level 5 or 6, $96,307 - $105,254 or $110,309 - $121,569p.a. plus Superannuation
Tenure: 24-months Fixed-term, Full-time (with the possibility of extension or permanency)
Location: Broome, Western Australia
Stretching from the Pilbara Region in the south to the Northern Territory border in the east, the Kimberley Region manages over 3,800,000 hectares of land and water on behalf of the Western Australian community. Visitor highlights include Purnululu, Windjana Gorge, Geikie Gorge and Tunnel Creek national parks, as well as world class marine-based experiences including Horizontal Falls and Montgomery Reef.
We currently have an opportunity in the West Kimberley District for a Capital Projects Officer.
Under limited (Level 5) or minimal (Level 6) direction from the District Manager, this position:
Responsible for project management oversight, and where applicable, the delivery of a range of capital works infrastructure projects in the West Kimberley District.Ensures all environmental planning and approvals, joint management aspirations, contractor supervision, financial management and reporting, interpretation and promotion associated with the capital works projects are compliant with the objectives of the projects and meet State government protocols, regulations and fiscal accountability.At DBCA, we have adoptedLeadership Expectationswhich provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. A covering letter.A written response addressing the five (5) requested criteria below (in no more than five (5) pages).A current resume.Selection Criteria Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) experience in project and contract management in environmentally sensitive areas including managing the implementation of works, site supervision and management, supervising contractors and staff and troubleshooting projects, with a preference for someone with experience in recreation site planning and design.Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) experience in high level leadership, supervisory, organisational and program planning and human resource management skills. Including a demonstrated ability to promote staff development, deal with contentious issues and improve performance, empowering staff to achieve agreed outcomes.Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) experience in procurement processes including tender and contract preparation, management and administration, and contract negotiation and time and financial management.Evidence of high-level oral communication and interpersonal skills and experience in effectively liaising and negotiating with external organisations including Aboriginal groups, local and State government, consultants, contractors, stakeholders and media.Demonstrated (Level 5) or considerable (Level 6) experience of administrative and financial management, including budget preparation and expenditure control.Please click "Apply" and you will be redirected to the WA Government Jobs Board website at https://search.jobs.wa.gov.au/ where you can submit your application online.
