Duties will also include assisting with the preparation of food, service at Recess and Lunchtime and clean up after service of over 0 staff and students and managing the canteen, including the canteen and catering budget.Benefits and Opportunities A positive and collaborative workplace culturePermanent contractAccess to salary packaging, including novated leasing weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption)Up to weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave) Key ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of a Canteen Manager include but not limited to: Responsible for managing school canteenRostering and supervising other staff and volunteersManaging a budget and overseeing banking functions and the payment of accountsStreamline/ improve financial reporting of canteen takings on a daily basisStocktakes at least once a term, including reducing food wasteDesign daily menu plans, taking dietary needs into considerationResponsible for catering for functions as neededResponsibility for ordering and purchasing goods for resaleOverseeing the preparation of goods for sale, and maintaining a detailed knowledge of client needs, pricing policies and productsAssists and prepares/cooks/serves food and drink orders for daily operationProvide quality canteen and catering customer service including food production and food preparation duties, counter service, clearing tables and cleaning dutiesProvide a clean, hygienic environment for the preparation, storage and safe handling of foodFollow procedure regarding food preparation and adhere to daily menu plansThe ability to create dishes when requiredWashes up during operationsEnsures detergent and paper towel dispensers are restocked dailyEnsures bins are emptied daily and recycling and compost are deal with accordinglyUndertakes end of term cleaning of the canteen equipment and areaPromote a safe, secure environment for staff, students and visitorsFollow Workplace Health and Safety Practices to ensure that the canteen and equipment is operated and maintained in a safe and hygienic mannerParticipate in purpose-based networks, team activities, performance management processes and professional development and training programs Essential CriteriaIt is essential that the successful applicant have: Extensive hospitality and chef experienceManagement experience of several staffProficient in managing high-volume food production during peak operational periodsApplies in-depth knowledge and a broad range of skills in a variety of roles and tasksUses discretion and judgement in planning and organising and achieving outcomes in time constraintsWorks under general direction. A General Employee at this level may work semi-autonomously (if working alone).
