The Canteen Person must ensure that safe and appropriate practices are followed in relation to hygiene, health laws and regulations.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure safe food practices are adhered to at all times.Assist with preparation of the day's menu.Assist with food service at recess and lunch times.Ensure that all daily monitoring and records are maintained (as per Food Safety Guidelines) for inspection purposes.Work towards the ongoing improvement of service, facilities and Safe Food Handling.Facilitate a happy, supportive and productive canteen environment, where canteen staff and/or volunteers feel valued and welcome.Report any maintenance issues on issue tracker in a timely manner.Provide the College with any catering needs for meetings and professional development days.Attend regular meetings with the Business Manager to ensure ongoing reporting on the canteen procedures.Maintain canteen security including:Ensure cash is kept in the safe and keys are kept secure.Follow DET guidelines for handling cash and using the EFTPOS machine.Locking up at the end of the working day and switching off appropriate appliances.Ensuring that only authorised people enter the canteen.Risk and Occupational Health and SafetyComply with legislated occupational health and safety practices and participate in consultative processes.Observe safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training and instructions.Identify, report and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring.Promote and implement occupational health and safety and risk mitigation processes within the College.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
