Job Vacancy We are currently seeking an Operator & Maintainer to fill a permanent position based in the Burdekin Region; however, an expectation is that the successful person will be a group resource, and will be required to travel as part of the Burdekin based Tamping Team to operate & maintain equipment across Wilmar's 8 Sugar Mills.
This position is responsible for Tramline construction, maintenance and repairs and works alongside a team of railway workers.
This role is a high energy position and requires enthusiastic candidates with the ability to implement and adapt to changing processes.
The main duties may include: Operating and maintaining group Tamping machines; both non-computerised and computerised Working in an outdoor environment, undertaking regular physical tasks Communicate effectively and work effectively in a small team Construct, maintain and repair all facets of Cane Railway infrastructure ie.
cleaning of points, oxy cutting, clearing bin derailments, work on bridges Tramline work such as changing sleepers, packing ballast, tamping, track positioning etc.
Be available for call outs to derailments and urgent repairs to tramline during the crushing season Selection Criteria will include the following: Current MR licence Track Maintenance Machine ATO Excellent communication skills Previous rail experience (desirable) Oxy Cutting (desirable) Able to travel across regions for planned maintenance works Desirable Tickets: Working at Heights Ticket High Risk Work Licence (Dogger) Trade qualifications (fabrication/fitting etc) Operate Front End Loader Vehicle Loading Crane Ticket Training may be provided as required.
