#525253 Cancer Care Coordinator – Melanoma Department of Cancer Services Calvary Mater Newcastle Temporary Part-Time Temporary (12 months) Part-Time (24 hours per week). Salary Classification: Clinical Nurse Consultant Level 1 Year 1-2 Remuneration: $62.05- $63.31 per hour, excluding superannuation + Salary Packaging. THE ROLE: The Cancer Care Coordinator Melanoma delivers expert nursing care, clinical advice and support to nurses, and other health care professionals with regards to high risk and advanced melanoma. The Cancer Care Coordinator Melanoma is a role that incorporates high level clinical service, clinical leadership, research, education and clinical services planning and management to optimise patient outcomes. The Cancer Care Coordinator Melanoma will be expected to work predominantly within the treatment settings for advanced and high-risk melanoma.
DUTIES: Educate primary and tertiary nursing services and other members of the patient's health care team about current best practice and patients individual care management. Patient assessment and needs assessments, including comprehensive physical examinations, psychological and distress screening and patient reported outcome and experience measures. Demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise in melanoma management in relation to stages of disease, treatment recommendations, early detection and management of symptoms, side effects of treatment, precautions/protocols associated with treatments, clinical trials and palliative care. ABOUT YOU: Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with APRHA, with demonstrated extensive experience and knowledge of Oncology, Melanoma or Surgical Nursing applied in a mixed clinical environment and/or across a range of services. At least five years post registration nursing experience with 3 years specialty experience in Oncology and Post graduate qualification related to Oncology, Melanoma or Surgical Nursing or evidence of working towards same. Demonstrated ability to communicate clinical concepts and information to non-clinical audiences and provide authoritative advice on clinical issues within field of expertise. Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem-solving ability to break down complex problems and develop a range of solutions based on specialist expert knowledge of Oncology. Capacity to evaluate current clinical practice within oncology and recommend improvements to avoid potential problems or minimise impacts on the organisation. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills necessary for documenting research, promoting awareness of current research and providing clinical services directly to patients/clients.
