Business Unit Description
The Business Management team supports regional business leaders by management and coordination of administrative and operational infrastructure required for Branch business.
The team spearheads new programs to enhance front office support and manages various tasks in administrative, financial, business controls and project initiatives.
The role will be Sydney based, supporting the Australia Business Manager and will be responsible for various tasks in administrative, financial, business controls and project initiatives.
The role will carry out the Business Management functions to support the full suite of businesses of CIBC Australia which currently consists of Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Global Markets, Asset Solutions Group and Treasury teams.
In addition, the Role will coordinate daily with head office and regional infrastructure functions (i.e.
Operations, Compliance, Technology, Finance, Risk, HR) to support the businesses.
Main Objectives
Partner with regional and global infrastructure groups to implement/execute strategic and business plans as well as projects, which include but not limited to regulatory, system development for business products, testing.
Build and maintain various Management Information System (MIS) reports, presentations, including cost/benefit and resources analysis, status of various initiatives.
Design and/or implement improvements to internal procedures and practices businesses, as well as ensure that an effective and documented internal control structure is in place, in accordance with current governance and compliance requirements.
Update and review Line of Business Policies and Procedures manual and Sydney Branch policies and procedures as required.
Assisting with the implementation of growth initiatives and projects that impact the Sydney Branch.
Preparing Management Information, performing Risk Assessments and coordinating with internal stakeholders.
Leading and driving local initiatives.
Work closely with regional and global Client Services as well as regional and global Compliance/AML teams in complying with anti-money laundering and financial crime prevention requirements including KYC reviews, due diligence and identification of risks when accepting new clients and ongoing reviews of Sydney Branch businesses.
Facilitating the sourcing and negotiation of office contracts together with regional/global corporate services function, as well as managing Third Party Risk Assessments.
Maintain of CIBC Australia business continuity plans and ensure delivery of annual BCP reporting requirements including the testing of plans and Business Impact Analysis requirements.
Coordinate with external parties in terms of account management services such as the SWIFT account, RBA ESA account, Austraclear Account, Nostro accounts ...etc.
Coordinate process and respond to internal and external audit or/regulator requests, visits and reports.
Act as the Senior Record Officer for Australia and ensure that record retention standards and procedures are adhered to in line with CIBC global policies.
Act as the Australia Business Manager's delegate for internal governance meetings, as required.
Management of meeting administration requirements for the Sydney Management Committee.
Skills / Knowledge Required
Bachelor Degree or professional qualification and up to 5 years relevant experience.
CFA or CPA/CA qualifications would be advantageous.
Superior business planning and management skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks.
Good understanding of Capital Markets, Treasury and Corporate Banking businesses in Australia.
General Knowledge and understanding of APRA, ASIC rules and regulations, FAR and other regulatory aspects pertaining banking services.
Liaison and interaction with external stakeholders such as CIBC clients, third party vendors and service providers.
Proactive and self-driven approach to work with flexibility to adapt to change in work environment.
Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency to complete tasks and good organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and computer literacy in desktop applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Good understanding of Capital Markets, Treasury and Corporate Banking businesses in Australia.
Ability to work accurately to tight timetables, prioritise and multitask.
Would be required to liaise with regional (Hong Kong) and global (London, Toronto) colleagues during non-office hours periodically.
Fluent in English.
