The Literacy for Life Foundation is an Aboriginal organisation focused on raising adult literacy levels. We are currently on the look out for a new team member, to oversee an innovative pilot project with NSW Corrective Services.
In the role you will lead the project to adapt our successful community-led approach to lifting literacy – working to assist Aboriginal adults at a facility in the greater Sydney area.

Base salary $80,000 – $90,000, negotiable plus superannuationSalary Sacrificing Available25 days annual leave and Rostered day off every 6 weeksBe part of the solution with an Aboriginal controlled NGODUTIES:Reporting to the National Campaign Director, the Campaign Project Officer (CPO) is responsible for the delivery of the Aboriginal Adult Literacy Campaign at their site. The responsibilities of a CPO are:
Planning, organising and administering the Campaign and Campaign BudgetTraining inmates as literacy facilitators using the Yes, I Can! method (training will be provided for the CPO)Overseeing core learning activities within the class, including monitoring and reporting on student progressDeveloping and implementing a 100-hour learning program to assist consolidating and embedding of the basic literacy acquiredNetworking across the Corrections community to sustain support for the pilotEstablishing and maintaining a Campaign Steering Group within the Corrections FacilitySupervising all inmate Campaign staff and supporting their capacity development in their role/sMaintaining and reporting key Campaign dataProviding progress reports to the National Campaign ManagerOther duties as required by the Executive DirectorTHE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:Commitment to advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adult educationExperience in adult education, language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) and/or community developmentTertiary qualification in one of these areas or equivalentExperience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoplesExperience working for a community development or not-for-profit organisationSound administrative, communication, computing and project management skillsNationally Police Check Clearance (or willingness to obtain one)Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
