In this role, you will help clients facing challenges such as debt, unpaid bills, and creditor harassment by providing them with information, advocacy, and tailored solutions. Through specialised programs like Family Violence Financial Counselling and Gamblers Help Financial Counselling, you'll also support those impacted by gambling harm and family violence.

ABOUT YOU
You are a compassionate and skilled professional who thrives on empowering others to overcome challenges. With a strong understanding of financial systems, hardship, and advocacy, you bring both expertise and empathy to your work. Your ability to assess complex financial situations and provide clear, actionable advice ensures that clients feel supported and confident in managing their financial issues.
You are a great communicator and collaborator, comfortable working with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Your knowledge of family violence, gambling harm, and related social issues allows you to deliver tailored, trauma-informed support that addresses the unique needs of each client.
In addition, you are committed to continuous learning and professional development, staying up-to-date with relevant legislation, financial frameworks, and best practices. Most importantly, you are driven by a passion for helping others achieve stability and security in their lives.
Key skills and attributes:
You love to learn and improve in a caring, consistently engaging and challenging environment. You have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience in delivering effective Financial Counselling. You are confident in writing and communicating, enabling you to provide effective assessments and evaluations. You have knowledge on financial and paralegal intervention such as credit laws, bankruptcy, Ombudsman's schemes and financial hardship best practices. Your highly developed cultural awareness and sensitivity, partnered with excellent communication skills, will enable you to build strong relationships with our stakeholders. Diploma of Financial Counselling and eligibility for membership with FCVic.
