About the position Commencing in January 2025, for a period of two years , we are looking for a Cadet Financial Accountant to join our organisation.
In this role, you will build upon your studies by gaining practical experience and training in accounting services within a local government context.
You will be provided with a comprehensive learning experience, allowing you the application of theoretical knowledge in a practical work environment.
You will have a training plan developed specifically for you, giving you the opportunity to undertake key processing tasks with broad exposure to asset accounting, tax, reconciliations, end of year reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
The position is full time employment for two (2) years for undergraduates currently studying a Bachelor of Accounting or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Major); and entering their final year of studies in 2025, with the ability to study part-time.
This entry level position provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in Council's Financial Services Team.

About you Currently studying a Bachelor of Accounting or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Major) and entering final year of studies in 2025, with the ability to study part-time.
Current Drivers Licence (minimum NSW Provisional P1 Licence or equivalent).
Australian permanent residency.
Proven organisational skills to manage workloads and meet competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service with a flexible attitude and ability to use initiative.
Highly motivated to work in a dynamic team environment and contribute to group outcomes.
Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Confident Excel user.
Comfortable working in an ICT environment and confidence to learn software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).
We offer Temporary full time employment for 2 years, working 35 hours per week.

Salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
